Pad Bank Initiative in Chandigarh
CCSDO’s Pad Bank Initiative in Chandigarh: Promoting Menstrual Dignity, Women’s Health, and Community Empowerment
The Pad Bank Initiative, launched by Crime Control & Social Development Organisation (CCSDO) under the Society Change Maker Movement (SCMM), is a step towards eliminating period poverty and ensuring that every woman has access to safe and hygienic menstrual care. Led by Mrs. Kavita Rawat, the initiative was introduced in Chandigarh with the support of an SCMM member and generous contributions from philanthropist Mr. Manoj Kumar, reflecting the power of collective social responsibility.
The programme received active support from City Level Federation (CLF) members under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), representing women from urban slums and underserved communities. Their participation highlighted the importance of community-led efforts in improving menstrual health awareness and ensuring that essential hygiene products reach those who need them most.
During the event, Mrs. Kavita Rawat, Mr. Manoj Kumar, and Dr. Summy Mehta, Medical Officer, Sector 25 Dispensary, distributed sanitary pads and emphasized the need to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. The Pad Bank Initiative goes beyond distribution by promoting awareness, dignity, health, and equal opportunities for women and girls. Through partnerships with donors, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders, CCSDO continues to build a sustainable movement where no woman has to compromise her health or dignity due to the lack of menstrual hygiene products.
